Cornwall Timber Building manufacturers, John Shields Woodwork are suppliers of a large range of timber buildings including sheds, studios, stables and home offices throughout Cornwall and the South West of England.
Quality
Attention to detail which may not always be apparent is central to the quality of our timber products. For instance the depth of rebate used on the overlap of the shiplap boards is deeper than standard in order to prevent any gaps appearing as the boards begin to dry out over time.
To ensure that the preservatives penetrate deep in to the timber, all exposed softwood is pressure-treated giving it a longer life.
In order to keep moisture out all corner battens and joint seams are sealed with silicone sealer.
In many situations damp proof wall membranes are used.
All of our timber products are made in our mid Devon workshops, all to the same high standard that is a hallmark of John Shields Woodwork. All ironmongery is treated against rust, with hot dip galvanising being used in most situations.
All external cladding is hand nailed, using galvanised nails.

At John Shields Woodwork we aim to provide you with practical advice that will be of use to you, starting from your very first enquiry. Our knowledge is based on over 17 years experience of supplying timber buildings in the Southwest.
We can make suggestions and discuss your needs. If we feel it may be of help when you are making your choice, we may refer you to our existing customers.
Our wide database will enable us to trace a suitable building which you may like to view.
We will discuss the planning implications with you and the base requirements. We may also be able to recommend site contractors in Cornwall, who can carry out base work.
When required we can submit applications for Building Regulations approval. We can also construct the building to the appropriate standard.
