At John Shields Woodwork we have an extensive range of garden studios which have been designed with  a number of factors in mind, these include insulation and the appearance of  the studio in the garden.

Our standard studios include all the features of our garden studios, double patio doors, roof lined inside with tongue and groove boarding up to the ridge and a 300m wide canopy over the door, are additional. Our standard windows are 1.2m high. The addition of a veranda with decking can enhance the appearance and versatility of the timber building. Railings and corner posts may be added when required. The underside of the roof canopies are lined with pressure treated tongue and groove boarding.

The building is insulated using glass mineral wool insulation and double glazing. Combined with the good thermal value of wood, this offers superb U values for insulation. If required, internal partition walls are available. Floors are insulated with polystyrene. If required, insulation ratings can be increased. Please ask.

Dartmoor Studios

Our premium garden studio design.

At John Shields Woodwork we offer the ultimate in timber garden buildings with the inclusion of 70mm foil backed Celotex foam insulation in the floor, walls and ceiling. Double glazed heat reflective units with argon filled cavities are used. Exterior walls are painted in Saddolin opaque wood protection in ample colours. Doors and Windows are given a 3 coat treatment painted in primer, undercoat and gloss paint finish. The roof is of cedar shingles. The roof pitch is increased to 30 degrees to enhance the appearance of the timber building. The interior walls are lined in a choice of pine tongue and groove boarding in natural finish or tongue and groove effect MDF painted with an emulsion paint finish. Power points, electric heater and lighting are included, as is a telephone socket. Finally, we will install a laminate floor in a choice of beech, oak, maple or birch.
